The corridors are different. Spawn, look at the nearest door and the countdown, take a nearby empty bed.
Different maps, don't memorize one path
Before you start you can pick Normal Map or Ice & Snow Map. Look and spawn halls are very different. The screens don't show extra slow or extra damage, so the job is to read the map, not assume Ice & Snow has hidden rules.
Ice & Snow has more corners and side halls. See where you are and which way the nearest door opens, then move.
Normal Map's main hall is straighter. Still take the nearest entrance you can see — don't detour for a room that “looks better.”
Plenty of countdown left: compare two or three nearby doors. Number dropping fast: a sure empty bed beats a prettier room. Finish reading the map before you lie down. Once you're in bed, don't leave to scout other halls.
